ETA VISA PROUK ETA assistance

Who needs a UK ETA?

If your passport is from one of the 83 countries and territories below, you need an ETA to visit the UK, unless you already have a UK visa or permission to live, work or study here.

List checked against GOV.UK’s “Check when you can get an ETA” guidance (last updated by the Home Office on 9 April 2026). Rules change, so always confirm on GOV.UK before you book.

You don’t need an ETA if you…

  • are a British or Irish citizen
  • already hold a UK visa, or permission to live, work or study in the UK
  • travel on a British National (Overseas) passport
  • legally live in Ireland and travel from Ireland, Guernsey, Jersey or the Isle of Man

Recently removed from the list

Botswana, Nauru, Nicaragua, St Lucia and Trinidad and Tobago were taken off the ETA list in 2025 and 2026. Nationals of these countries now need a visa to visit the UK.

Two passports?

Apply with the passport you will actually travel on. If one of them is British or Irish, use that one and you won’t need an ETA at all.
